Each series of Great Ocean Adventures required a complete circumnavigation of the globe, seeking out encounters with some of the most iconic creatures in the ocean.
Working with RDF Media and Scubazoo, a small crew of five filmed the entire first series in sixty nine days!
This involved all the crew taking 37 flights around the worl d, conducting over a hundred dives each, and filming each one of the ten episodes completely in only five days. Conditions ranged from diving in water of 1 Celsuis in Newfoundland, to 30 Celsius in Palau.
Each encounter was special, however certain stood out even amongst the ocean giants featured in the series. The Humboldt squid in the darkness of the Sea of Cortez made a real impression on everyone in the team, as did the giant sun fish off Bali. Closer to home the basking sharks off Scotland gave a glimpse of a British giant, whilst the mantas off a deep ocean mount in the Pacific created a huge response from the viewing public.
Described as a "beautiful, peaceful wildlife series" by The Times, Great Ocean Adventures is an experience that the whole crew will never forget.
