A Channel 4 special to explore the reality of Jules Vernes classic book.
This film took Monty completely around the world, from climbing the largest volcano on earth in Hawaii, to the earthquake simulator in Tokyo, down the deepest goldmine in South Africa, exploring cave systems in Mexico, and jumping out of aircraft in California. The latter was an attempt to show the scale of the earth by falling towards it, all the while doing a piece to camera! Thankfully a parachute was involved in the latter stages. This was a fascinating glimpse of man’s ingenuity in his attempts to burrow into the earth, and how far we still have to go (on a journey of 4,000 miles, we have done the first 2.5 miles! Monty also got to wear a very tight jumpsuit during the filming of this series, which he enjoyed a great deal.
