Monty's update!

"Whew - it's been a ridiculously busy few months, but fortunately there's a bit of a break coming up. All we need to do within this break is have the baby, move house, finish the book, complete the filming of the tv series, and then set up a new business! So, a nice quiet time all round really.

The filming down in Cornwall is nearly done, and is for a new series due to go out next year. It's telling the story of what I feel is one of the most misunderstood industries in Britain - our fishing fleet. I've been working as a fisherman (kind of - if you ask the lads I'm working with most of them would be helpless with laughter at me even using the word "working"), and it's been a revelation. It'll be out some time in 2012, and will hopefully reveal a little about a way of life that is under greater threat than ever before.

I've also been doing some of the voice overs for "Reef", a three part Natural History Unit production that comes out early next year. Filming this was an extraordinary experience - obviously the coral reef itself was amazing, but watching the cameramen and crew put themselves through hell to get the shots required was awesome. A great effort to produce a series that is a celebration for the largest living structure on earth, and what may also be a lament at it's passing.

We're hoping to set up a business in Dartmouth (we're moving there in January) running wildlife trips, filming courses, and generally offering a place where everyone can come and say hello, have a coffee, and meet Reuben (and let's face it, that's who everyone wants to meet....). As soon as it's up and running we'll let you know!

Reubs and I have got a boys night out in Exeter on Thursday 22nd March "An Evening with Monty and Reuben" at Exeter University. Doors open at 6pm Tickets and more information available at http://store.exeter.ac.uk/browse/product.asp?catid=135&modid=1&compid=1

And finally, the baby is due.....ermmmm....shortly! Again we'll let everyone know when it finally puts in an appearance. Mum doing well, but very much looking forward to the big day.

I'll do another update just before Christmas, when bedlam, chaos, poo and vomit will be the order of the day.

All the best, Monty"
