Speaking Up For Heroes

I have long harbored the idea of a Live Aid style event for speakers - a celebration of the very best in the business on one unforgettable night to raise money for a worthy charity.

The spur was the tremendous work being undertaken by the Help for Heroes charity. This organisation raises money for injured young Servicemen and women returning from Iraq and Afghanistan, paying for their immediate rehabilitation, for artificial limbs, and for their continuing treatment and counseling as they integrate back into society. Help for Heroes has seized the imagination of the British public like no other cause, and millions has already been raised.

The event took place on July 16th at The Royal Institution of Great Britain where several of the finest speakers in the UK gathered to present on the subject of courage, of achievement, of overcoming impossible odds - to celebrate Heroism itself. Those speaking on the night were John Simpson CBE, Dee Caffari MBE, Ben Saunders, Andy McNab DCM MM with closing remarks by Phil Packer. The night itself raised over £30,000 for Help for Heroes.

A DVD of the night is available to buy from the Help for Heroes shop at https://www.shop.helpforheroes.org.uk/products/Speaking-Up-for-Heroes.html and again all proceeds going to directly towards helping our service men and women.
