Perfect Weapon was about as much fun as it's possible to have whilst fully clothed. Devised by Dr Stuart Prior, an archaeologist from Bristol University who co-presented the series with Monty, it involved an investigation into the ancient weapons that shaped nations.
Monty and Stuart learned how to make the weapons, how to use them, and then created a series of tests and challenges for one another. One of these was training a biker gang and a rugby club how to use the longbow, crossbow, broadsword and pole axe. The tests between Monty and Stuart were vigorous to say the least, with the occasional drop of blood and frequent use of traditional Anglo Saxon expressions. Enormous fun to make, the series was filmed in a meadow beneath Berkley Castle in Gloucestershire through a glorious Summer in 2007. The series airs globally in 2008 on the National Geographic Channel.
