Unchartered Territories

This ITV two part series was Monty’s first experience of the murky world of television, and followed the adventures of a team of scientists and explorers on an expedition to Belize. Led by Colonel Alastair Rogers of the Royal Marines, the team explored the remote region of the Raspaculo Basin in the Maya Mountains. This pristine area of rainforest is the home to some of the most endangered species in Central America, and the team spent three weeks in a jungle base camp pushing out on forays into the jungle.

Monty’s main role was to try to obtain an underwater photograph of the rare morelets crocodile, something that was achieved late at night by team member Dave Bowden from a wobbly canoe as Monty paddled backwards at speed! An outstanding expedition in a remote and beautiful region of the world.
